Central to the religious life of the school is the person of Jesus Christ who came among us ‘as one who serves’ (Luke 22.27). Our Catholic school is committed to reaching out to help those in need, through charitable outreach initiatives. All outreach activities connect to the person of Jesus Christ and to the sacraments, especially the Eucharist. Drawing on the Catholic Social Teaching of the Church, we have a deep commitment to supporting a range of charitable organisations, families and individuals in need.

OutreachAt St Mark’s Catholic Primary School Drummoyne our school motto ‘Live the Gospel’ is lived out in action. We are inspired by our dual charism to reach out to the poor and disadvantaged. Our social justice student and staff committee leads our school community in supporting:

  • Caritas, especially during the season of Lent
  • St Vincent de Paul – Winter and Christmas appeal
  • Canice’s kitchen – a monthly commitment by our parents on the weekend and donations by our students
  • Presentation Sisters and Josephite initiatives
  • The Indigenous Literacy Foundation (ILF). We have had visits from Indigenous students and we regularly attend the ILF gathering at the Opera House, which sponsors Indigenous students from the outback
  • Other initiatives throughout the year that affect our national and international communities.
